Winston C. Doby Legacy Scholarship Dinner — Official Production Partner (2024 & 2026)

OVERVIEW

Ayanna Henderson Marketing has served as the official production partner for the UCLA Black Alumni Association's Winston C. Doby Legacy Scholarship Dinner across two consecutive engagements — first as the official event video producer and social media coverage provider in 2024, and returning in 2026 as the full-service production partner for the most ambitious iteration of the event to date. The Doby Dinner is one of the most distinguished events celebrating Black excellence, leadership, and legacy within the UCLA community — raising scholarship funds to support deserving students in honor of Winston C. Doby, founding director of UCLA's Black Student Services.

THE CHALLENGE

Institutional galas of this caliber demand production quality that matches the gravity of the evening — broadcast-level video, cinematic honoree tributes, and real-time social coverage that extends the event's reach far beyond the room. For the 2026 engagement, AHM was tasked with scaling up to full end-to-end creative direction and production: multi-camera live coverage, honoree tribute videos, post-production for social and archival use, and a content strategy designed to keep the event's impact alive long after the night itself. The production partner also needed to honor the legacy of Winston C. Doby with the care and precision his story deserves.

OUR APPROACH

AHM approached both engagements as a storytelling partner first, production team second. In 2024, we delivered official event video production and live social media coverage — capturing every key moment in real time and distributing content across platforms for maximum reach. For 2026, we expanded to full-service production: pre-production graphic design and editorial preparation, multi-camera live event coverage, cinematic honoree tribute videos (3–5 minute features for each honoree), comprehensive post-production editing for social media, marketing, and archival use, and a content strategy built to extend the life of the event through ongoing digital distribution. The 2026 program featured a keynote by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, a special appearance by NBA legend and UCLA icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and honorees Tash Gray, Cheryl Lott, Mandla Kayise, Dr. Yolanda Gorman, and The Elegant Bruinettes (UCLA Majorette Dance Team) — hosted by comedian, writer, and producer Chris Spencer.
